American High-Income Municipal Bond Fund seeks current income exempt from regular federal income tax. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in federally tax-exempt debt obligations. Management intends to focus on higher-yielding, lower-rated debt; at least 50% of assets are rated BBB or below. The fund may invest up to 5% of assets in debt rated as low as D. The fund may invest in securities subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax. It may also invest in cash and cash equivalents.
